GOVERNANCE OF
The school’s Board of governors, who hold overall responsibility for the school, have a duty to:
- determine the vision of the school
- ensure the school meets its statutory requirements
- know the strengths and weaknesses of the school
- provide support and challenge to the leadership of the school
Please see the current MAP document for information about our school governors
The Board comprises: 6 governors who are appointed by the sponsor (the Steiner Waldorf Schools Fellowship); 2 elected parent governors; 2 teachers governors; 3 co-opted governors; the sponsor lead; the Principal. The Board meets 4 times in the school year . In addition, governors meet in January to review the previous year and in May they have a strategic planning day. Following the AGM, governors meet with members of the Association in an Open Forum when members can raise any concerns with governors.
There are a series of governance Committees that meet regularly to deal with issues in greater detail. Each Committee produces a summative report for the Board that includes any decisions that the Committee has made. These reports form part of the Board minutes. The Committees act as an umbrella for the various working groups that come into being as the need arises. These working groups play a crucial role in advising and making recommendations to the Committees.
